Momma,
I do not even know if you remember the conversation. We had it in one of our family vans on the way home from this or that in town. You were patiently and devoutly listening to another of my diatribes about some drama I was having with a "supposedly nice" girl at school. When I finished, you said, "I have learned to not trust anyone who says they are a good or nice person." You paused for a bit as I processed what you were saying. "A person who is really good or nice wouldn't need to tell you," you continued, "you'd just know. Just like a person of faith doesn't need to tell you -- you'll see them living it." Through the years, I have met many people who make similar false claims, and just as you warned -- they were not to be trusted. Thanks to your advice, though, I was always a step ahead of them.
